
US refiners' Canadian oil supply unaffected by TMX launch

Even with the new Trans Mountain pipeline expansion offering Canadian oil sands producers a route to Pacific markets, US midcontinent refiners are still flush with Canadian crude, with July flows reaching 2.9 million barrels per day, the highest for that month since 1993, according to the Energy Information Administration. Total US imports of Canadian crude surged to an all-time high of 4.37 million bpd in July.
