Announcing AIChE’s First Virtual Spring Meeting and Global Congress on Process Safety

May 22, 2020

During these unprecedented times, AIChE’s first concern is for the health and safety of our members, volunteers, and staff.  AIChE has therefore made the decision to deliver its 2020 AIChE Spring Meeting and 16th Global Congress on Process Safety virtually. The meeting — which had been rescheduled to August 16–20 in Houston, TX — will now be available online from Monday, August 17 through Friday, August 21. We will still provide our virtual attendees with inspiring and thought-provoking keynote speakers, present papers, publish proceedings and network.

The AIChE Spring meeting is the year’s key technical conference for practicing chemical engineers. Our new virtual experience has been developed by our programming team, along with meeting chairs, session organizers, presenters, exhibitors and previously registered attendees to ensure the new virtual format will provide you a first-rate virtual experience.

Attend and participate just as you do in person.  You will be able to interact with presenters during Q&A, attend workshops, committee meetings and panel discussions, participate in our exhibits and connect with each other as well as sponsors and exhibitors.  Associated events — such as the inaugural Frontiers in Particle Science and Technology Conference will also be included.

While we will miss the traditional opportunities to interact one-on-one with our friends and colleagues, AIChE and the Center for Process Safety (CCPS) along with our network of experts are excited to introduce this new approach to a broader online audience.  New networking events are being added and you will have the opportunity to view sessions you may have missed on the platform for up to 30 days following the event.

Meeting registration is open for new registrations, fees have been lowered, and—as a first for this meeting—full meeting registrations will include recordings of all available presentations.

While we acknowledge there have been calls for virtual meetings to be free or available at a nominal fee, AIChE based the meeting rates upon what we feel will allow us to provide our attendees with the best and most up-to-date chemical engineering and process safety content and community, while minimizing risk to the Institute.  We have also relaxed our cancellation policy for previously registered attendees who are unable to attend the August event.

Join us in August for our 2020 Spring meeting.  AIChE looks forward to providing you with a unique, virtual experience that will enhance your career development and professional growth and to sharing quality time and great programming with you this summer.
