Request a Box.com Folder

AIChE provides its organizations, volunteers, and staff with a platform for  "team" collaboration. The platform is Box.com and it provides a simple web-based environment for team collaboration.

What is Box.com?

  • Box is the leading enterprise file sharing and managing platform, allowing users to easily access files from multiple platforms
  • Box enables team members to aggregate and organize documents in one place on the internet. All team members have password-protected access and can work together on tasks and documents.
  • Box is user friendly. The service provides tutorials to help users to better understand it.

What are the requirements to have a Box folder?

  • A need must be established and it must be approved by your AIChE staff liaison
  • Box folder collaborators must have non-AIChE e-mail addresses (unless pre-approved)
  • The person in charge of the folder (who will maintain it) must be known.
  • The person in charge must complete a Box request form

What should you be aware of before requesting a Box folder?

  • The intended use of this service is for sharing documents, etc. in context of well-defined projects/tasks. Ideally, you'd request a box.com folder for a project/task that has a specific purpose and timeframe. At the end of the project the Box folder will be deleted.
  • In general, this service is NOT meant to serve as indefinite "storage" space for documents. The site's administrator is responsible for maintaining original copies and backups of all content uploaded to their Box folder.
  • AIChE does not provide support for Box.com. The service is provided on an AS IS BASIS. Specifically, users are expected to use the vendor's documentation at http://success.box.com
  • AIChE Websupport will provide support only for setting up new box folders and retiring box folders
