Researchers at the Univ. of Michigan (UM) recently published a study that examines the experiences of women, minorities, individuals with disabilities, and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) members of AIChE.
They surveyed over 2,000 members in the U.S., in an attempt to understand the scope of disadvantage and exclusion in the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) workforce. Women made up 25% of the sample population, while men made up approximately 74%. About 81% of the respondents were white, and around 4% identified as LGBTQ.
