A smart contact lens developed by researchers at Tohoku Univ. in Japan could prevent dry eye syndrome by maintaining a fluid layer between the lens and the eye.
The system depends on electroosmotic flow (EOF), a phenomenon that induces liquid to flow when a voltage is applied to a surface.
