Among the prevalent Single Cell Protein sources yeast based SCP supplements are becoming popular due to multiple benefits. This study was plannee for the production of single cell protein through yeast fermentation and evaluation of its nutritive value by proximate analysis. For this purpose Saccharomyces cerevisiae was used. Ten different media were analysed for the production of SCP. Out of ten, one media YPD was used as standard media for the cell biomass production and other media were compared with the standard media. First screening of six media was done in test tubes and further screening of media was done in 250ml flasks and six litter flask. After screening of ten media at different stages only one media YCM ,which is cheap and easily available gave maximum yield of dry Cell biomass comparable with the standard media was compared at fermentor level with the standard media. Other carbon soysour like glucose, Sucrose, maltose, different crop residues like mungbean, black grames, moringa leaf meal, and various concentrations of corn steeping liquor was also used for growth optimization of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. YCM media gave maximum yield of cell biomass as compared to other media used in my research work.
