(424a) Engineering and scale-up of a Conagen production strain for the longevity molecule NMN

Conagen is a leading bioengineering company. Our scientists and engineers use the latest synthetic biology tools to design metabolic pathways, improve production organisms, and optimize production procedures. We innovate and develop synthetic biology solutions for supporting global partners across a spectrum of current and developing markets. From our proprietary strain development to fermentation and process scale-up, Conagen impacts partners’ abilities to sell and market products in the food, nutrition, flavor and fragrance, pharmaceutical, and renewable materials industries. During this presentation, we will focus on one of our latest engineering breakthroughs, the fermentation-based production of the longevity promoting molecule nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN). NMN is used to generate nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+), an essential molecule that is found in every cell of the body. As we age, the levels of NAD+ begins to fall. At age 50 most of us have NAD+ levels about half of what they were when we were 20. This decrease in NAD+ interferes with SIRT1’s (sirtuins control aging) ability to defend our bodies and slow down the aging process. NMN elevates NAD+ levels in cells throughout the body and is able to elevate overall NAD+ levels and slow aging. The presentation will highlight the innovative engineering and scale-up process of Conagen’s highly relevant NMN production strain using cutting-edge technologies that enables us to manufacture at the most competitive production cost in the industry.
