(57q) Process Safety Capability Building As a Strategic Priority within Organizations

Authors

Thompson, K. - Presenter, Trinity Consultants
This presentation is designed for individuals and organizations interested in learning how to build and maintain expertise in process safety. Trinity Consultants will address how Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Program (RMP) capability is achieved via targeted recruitment, intensive onboarding, well-defined career development tracks, knowledge management and access, training, program element standardization, industry best practices, and employee recognition.

Best practices will be shared from working with client PSM/RMP programs that are staffed by process safety teams varying in size, technical expertise, and organizational structures across diverse industries. Specifically, Trinity will discuss how to develop a solid process safety team through:

  • Targeted recruitment of safety professional with global and domestic industry-specific PSM expertise,
  • Intensive onboarding programs inclusive of on-the-job exposure, internal and external competency training requirements,
  • Well-defined tailored career development tracks designed to reinforce subject matter expertise and support advancement within the organization,
  • Development of internal standards to produce a consistent quality work product across the PSM team,
  • Development and use of adopted templates from recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices (RAGAGEP) to ensure all PSM projects are executed based on sound, safe, and reliable industry practices,
  • Extensive coaching via high-frequency project peer reviews allowing for effective transfer of knowledge and continuous improvement within the PSM team, and
  • Employee Recognition programs that provide PSM teams with timely recognition through personal acknowledgement of positive behaviors.

By promoting transparency on PSM career progression and providing consistent expectations on key PSM/RMP subject matter, such as Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Compliance Auditing, and Prevention Program Development, you will develop organizational capability in process safety and retain top talent in your team.

If your organization is interested in gaining pointers on how to strategically build and maintain a high level of capability in process safety, join Trinity Consultants’ Kristle Thompson as she discusses how Trinity has gained, through direct facility experience nationwide, the depth and breadth of PSM/RMP knowledge across a broad cross-section of industries.
