(47d) Why Leadership Development Fails: A Lesson for Our Industry.

Authors

Skarke, S. - Presenter, University of Texas at San Antonio
According to one source leadership training is a $366 Billion global business and 95% of learning organizations either plan to increase or maintain their current investment in leadership development. At the same time, many CEOs complain that they do not have enough effective leadership in their organization to bring about the change and level of performance needed.

In this session I will discuss the top reasons why we are not successful with attempts to develop effective leaders in our industry. I have experienced each of these over my 40 years in the chemical industry. Now I am teaching leadership to undergraduate engineering students in attempt to get in front of this barrier to success.

This session will give organizations and individuals a fresh look at how to unlock the hidden leadership potential in their staff and themselves.
