On November 5th around 100 attendees, including K–12 students, their parents, and educators gathered at the 2023 AIChE Annual Meeting to participate in the K–12 STEM Showcase.
This Synthesis Report (SYR) of the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) summarizes the state of knowledge of climate change, its widespread impacts and risks, and climate change mitigation and adaptation. It integrates the main findings of the Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) based on contributions from the three Working Groups, and the three Special Reports.
As the world and the country try to go green, many are taking a fresh look at nuclear power as a non-emitting power source. This lecture will go into the basics of the nuclear reaction and how this reaction creates heat to make electricity. How is power generated from a nuclear reaction? What is the process of splitting the atom. Why is the nuclear reaction different than conventional power generation? What is the impact that radiation has on living tissue? Along the way, we will discuss the basic terminology and physics behind this reaction.
