Chemicals and Chemical Engineering can apply to so many facets of work life, home life, and the world at large. To the left is one that I thought of the other day when I got my brand new Soda Stream carbonated beverage maker.
But so often, the general public is unaware of how many great examples of chemical engineering there are in the world. Well, here's a chance to create awareness for ChEnected and the chemical engineering profession. Plus... you can get a little creative as well. We'd like to know how you're ChEnected with the Real World!
This is the third part of our contest Get ChEnected and Win an iPad. You can read the details of the 3 ways to win here. But first let's take a closer look at ChEnected in the Real World.
Here are a few of the "ChEnected in the Real World" submissions thus far:
You can click on the image to see it on Facebook.

So how do you Win an IPad by Showing You're ChEnected in the Real World?
It's as easy as following this FORMULA....
- Register for the contest if you haven't already.
- Download the ChEnected logo (banner or avatar).
- Find your example of ChEnected in the Real World (for you) and take a photo or shoot a short video. (It could be of you or you and your chemical engineering friends out in the world. You could show chemical engineering in everyday life. Or how chemical engineers are helping make the world a better place. Or an interesting example of chemical engineering in your town.)
- Use the ChEnected logo (banner or avatar) in the picture or video. (You can print it out and take a photo live or use Powerpoint - like Robert did.)
- Post your photo or video on the ChEnected Facebook Page. Or tweet it to us @ChEnected on Twitter.
- Your post message must say: "See how I experience @ChEnected in the real world". Include #WiniPad with your posts or tweets.
Submission Period Ends Friday, July 16 at 11:59 p.m.
Voting for "ChEnected in the Real World" submissions will commence July 19 and run through July 31.
The submission that gets the most votes will win an iPad.

That soda maker sounds like a great gadget to have around the house. Do you buy syrup or use it in other types of drinks?
They sell syrup for regular sodas and have any possible flavor you'd want. They also sell "essences" which are used for adding a hint of flavor as is the case for many seltzers. So far, we've just been adding lemon juice but we ordered some flavors. You can control the amount of fizzyness too. They also have a C02 cylinder exchange program where they send you a postage-free box to send it back to them when you order a new one. I calcuated it to be about 46 cents per liter not including the initial cost of the device, which range in price between $100 and $200. It can also be bought at Williams Sonoma for the same price. Thanks for the resource, that sounds like an easier system than I even imagined.
