One of this year's feature events focuses on the state of graduate student education. It seeks to spark discussions on where ChE graduate students come from, their research priorities and sources of support, post-graduation prospects, and industry expectations of ChE grad students.
Panelist Phil Westmoreland is a professor at North Carolina State University and 2013 AIChE President. Prior to the panel discussion, Phil chatted with the other panelists about their thoughts on graduate student education for chemical engineers. Read more about this event. This panel discussion is the result of a study sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and conducted by AIChE. For more information on the study's findings, you can download this report.
In addition to Phil Westmoreland, the panelists for the Annual Meeting session who joined us for the interview are:
- Pramod Khargonekar, Assistant Director, Directorate for Engineering, National Science Foundation
- Joe Helble, Dean, College of Engineering, Dartmouth
