AIChE and member volunteers from the Northern California (NorCal) Local Section will take part in one of the U.S.'s largest K-12 outreach events, when AIChE hosts an exhibit during the San Francisco Bay Area Science Festival's Discovery Day, Saturday, November 5, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, at San Francisco's AT&T Park.
The event includes more than 150 science activities and exhibits and is open to the public. Children of all ages and their parents are welcome, and admission is free. You can find more information here.
According to De-Wei Yin, K-12 coordinator for AIChE's Societal Impact Operating Council and a member of AIChE's Midland (Michigan) Section, the AIChE exhibit will feature a mixing demonstration on how to scale up a lemonade factory, a hands-on magic trick that shows how to separate two types of plastic beads by making a temporary emulsion, and a dynamic display model that illustrates a distillation process.
Interested in volunteering?
If you are an AIChE member and would like to help at the AIChE exhibit, please send a message to De-Wei Yin on AIChE Engage or come to the AIChE booth at the event. We hope to see you at Discovery Day.
