Dr. Robert W. Ivester currently serves as the deputy director of the EERE Advanced Manufacturing Office, U.S. Department of Energy, and was a panelist at Monday's Industry 4.0 Panel Discussion.
Following the panel, Rob chatted with panel chair Scott McWhorter of Savannah River National Laboratory. In the video interview above, Rob and Scott discuss how young chemical engineers can prepare themselves for a career in advanced manufacturing by embracing and incorporating new technology into corporate work environments. They also discuss the ways in which the DOE has embraced K-12 and undergraduate education in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) to maintain the workforce pipeline as the aging manufacturing workforce begins to retire.
