Jennifer Sinclair Curtis, Dean of Engineering at the University of California, Davis, took time out during the 2018 AIChE Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh to speak with Donna Bryant and Colin Young, the two inaugural scholarship recipients of the John C. Chen Endowment for Young Professional Leadership. Jennifer is a member of the steering committee for this new award, which is part of the AIChE Foundation’s Doing a World of Good campaign. The funds for the endowment were raised by friends and family of the late John Chen to pay tribute to his lasting influence in the chemical engineering profession and to support new generations of leaders for decades to come.
Donna Bryant is a chemical engineering graduate of the University of Virginia and is now the Environmental Operations Unit Superintendent at Syngenta in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is Chair of the Baton Rouge AIChE Local Section, Programming Chair for the Management Division, and Vice Chair of the Young Professional Committee.
Colin Young recently received his PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Utah.Today he is a research scientist at Utah’s Huntsman Cancer Institute, where he studies genes associated with increased breast cancer risk. Colin is the current chair of AIChE’s Young Professionals Committee, and has been especially active in STEM outreach.
