There are a number of LGBTQ+ & Allies events happening at this year’s Virtual 2020 AIChE Annual Meeting and Annual Student Conference. Each event will allow LGBTQ+ chemical engineers and their allies to network, socialize, and have discussions about meaningful topics and important issues with other members of the community. Topics will include LGBTQ+ inclusion, how to navigate entering the workforce as a young LGBTQ+ engineer, and how to become a better ally.
LGBTQ+ & Allies Event Schedule

LGBTQ+ & Allies Safe Zone Workshop
Monday, Nov. 16, 2pm–3pm PT
This workshop is an opportunity for allies and LGBTQ+ to learn more about the current engineering culture, terminology, microaggressions, and unconscious bias. Strategies will be shared and discussed on creating a more inclusive classroom and workplace. The workshop will be led by Stephanie Farrell, Experiential Engineering Education, Rowan University, Glassboro, NJ, and Anthony Edward Butterfield, Chemical Engineering, University of Utah.
