Virginia Tech Wins Chem-E-Car Competition® Top Prize

The student team from Virginia Tech (shown above) clinched the top trophy in the virtual 2020 Annual Student Conference Chem-E-Car Competition® finals, winning with the exact target distance of 17.4 meters. There was no required load this year. 

The second place winner was the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez, followed by a tie for third place between Missouri University of Science and Technology and Clarkson University. The fifth place winner was the University of North Alabama.

Awards

The award for the best team name went to the Oregon State University. Their team name was "Shock and Au."

The Golden Tire Award went to Kansas State University. The most creative drive system plaque was also awarded to Kansas State University, and the SAChE Safety Award went to the Fundação Educacional Inaciana – Padre Sabóia (FEI).

The winners of the poster competition were New Jersey Institute of Technology, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and Kansas State University.

University of North Alabama was awarded a plaque for the most consistent performance (17.15m UNA and 17.59m), and the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León won the Spirit of Competition Award.

The award for best video went to University of Pittsburgh team, which also received the award for outstanding sportsmanship.
