The 2020 Virtual Spring Meeting proved to all of us we can still successfully come together, just in a different way. The 2021 AIChE Virtual Spring Meeting & 17th Global Congress on Process Safety will be no exception.
This year’s virtual meeting is better than ever with many new platform features to make navigating the meeting online a breeze. Build your own schedule, connect with friends and make new contacts, and have some fun while connecting with your colleagues through live sessions, chats, and other opportunities.
Build a personalized schedule
Keeping track of sessions you’d like to attend is easier than ever with with the new vFairs scheduling tool. Click “Add to my schedule” to build your daily itinerary of presentations and sessions you plan to attend. Not only that, but you can also export your schedule to the calendar of your choice.
Networking in Social Hour
With a limit to groups of seven to each table, our new Social Hour feature allows attendees to gather virtually with colleagues of similar technical interests in video-based group discussions. You’ll have the ability to seamlessly move between tables to network and connect with fellow attendees and exhibitors of varying interests.
Technically focused networking sessions will take place Monday through Thursday, from 12:00–1:00 PM CT. See some highlights from sessions scheduled below:
Monday: Networking Kick-off (12:30 CT) – Join us and jump from table to table to meet your peers, including discussions on process safety, ethylene, and industry 4.0.
Tuesday: Joint Process Development & RAPID Event – Dive into a discussion with leaders in process intensification and process development.
Wednesday: Petrochemical Industry Decarbonization & Energy Transition – Join this open forum focusing on the petrochemical industry and the steps and issues associated with decarbonizing their facilities to support and manage the energy transition.
Thursday: Fundamental Modeling and AI: How can they work together? – Stop by to talk with industry 4.0 leaders on what the future could look like for AI.

Chat rooms
Another way to connect with your peers is through this ’s chat rooms. Whether it’s chatting with an exhibitor, keeping the conversation going after an intriguing presentation, or connecting with others with the same interests, you’ll have the ability to easily connect with others throughout the meeting, even sharing virtual business cards.

Now you can access a list of all attendees to filter and connect with your friends and colleagues. You can also filter by areas of interest to connect with like-minded individuals.
Access to pre-recorded sessions
Live, pre-recorded, and poster presentations will be hosted in the vFairs auditoriums accessed from the lobby by clicking on Technical Program images or links in the navigation bar. In the Spring & GCPS sessions list, presentations will be listed by Division, Forum, or Topical Conference. Miss a presentation or want to view it again? You now have 24/7 access to pre-recorded sessions which can be viewed anytime after their initial viewing, and for 30 days after the event.
Visit exhibitors
Find specific exhibitors by scrolling through the hall, or by reviewing the exhibitor index on the lower left of the screen. You’ll have the ability to engage in the booth group chat, chat one-to-one with a booth rep, or even schedule a time to return and chat later in the meeting.
You can also fill up your “virtual briefcase” with information from the exhibitors by selecting content of interest.
