Henry Dwight is the process safety superintendent of BP Corp North America, and also serves as this year's Symposia Chair of the 56th Annual Loss Prevention Symposium (LPS) in San Antonio, Texas. We recently spoke to Henry to learn more about this conference.
What is your role for the 2022 AIChE Spring Meeting & 18th Global Congress on Process Safety?
This year I serve as Chair of the 56th Loss Prevention Symposium (LPS) at the 2022 AIChE Spring Meeting & 18th Global Congress on Process Safety. The Loss Prevention Symposium (LPS) is one of several parallel symposia that make up the Global Congress on Process Safety (GCPS).
Can you give us some insight into this year’s GCPS and what events shouldn’t be missed?
The LPS track this year includes many presentations on long standing topics such as Facility Siting, Fire / Explosion, Reactivity and Combustible Dusts along with some new topics such as Alternative Energy Infrastructure Safety or Engineered Safety Systems.
What information are you hoping attendees walk away with?
The purpose of the LPS has always been to aid in the prevention of serious loss incidents that involve fires, explosions, runaway reactions, and major material releases in the chemical, petrochemical, and related industries. It is my hope that every attendee will be able to find insights that can help safeguard their sites, as well as the communities they work in, against major accidents.
