Do you know a high school student looking to make the world or their community a better place? Do you know a student planning to attend an HBCU next year with an interest in science, technology, engineering, or math? If you answered yes, share this opportunity to receive a FOSSI scholarship with your network!
The Future of STEM Scholars Initiative (FOSSI) provides scholarship recipients $10,000 per year for four years, helping to eliminate financial barriers for historically under-represented groups. So far, FOSSI has awarded scholarships to 294 exceptional high-school seniors to pursue preferred STEM degrees at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in its 2021 and 2022 classes, and now it is currently accepting applications for its 2023 class until January 31, 2023.
Recent FOSSI Highlights
Last month, FOSSI Scholars attended AIChE's 2022 Gala, which celebrated the extraordinary work of the chemical engineering profession. A central theme of the evening was inspiring the next generation, which was brought to life by the presence of students from the Future of STEM Scholars Initiative, including Dow scholars Emmanuel Durojaiye (Morgan State), Jalen Mays (Howard), Korin Murray (NC A&T), and Courtney Young (Howard), as well Deloitte scholar Kaila White (NC A&T) and Bayer scholar Jada Horton (Howard).
In November, FOSSI joined the Chemical Industry Council of Illinois for the 46th Annual Illinois Chemical Education Foundation (ICEF) Career Conference in Chicago. Earlier in the fall, FOSSI joined the HBCU Week Foundation at its first HCBU Week College Fair in partnership with The Walt Disney Company in Orlando, FL.
