A shining example of this commitment is the IDEAL Star Award, which recognizes outstanding individuals and teams who have made significant contributions to promoting these values through impactful programming and initiatives.
What is the IDEAL Star Award?
The IDEAL Star Award honors those who excel in creating and advancing IDEAL initiatives. Recipients are celebrated for their dedication to fostering inclusive environments, developing educational opportunities, and driving forward the principles of diversity and anti-racism within the field of chemical engineering and related STEM areas. This prestigious award is administered by the Societal Impact Operating Council (SIOC) and is a one-time honor for each recipient.
Award benefits and recognition
Recipients of the IDEAL Star Award receive:
- Registration to an AIChE conference
- An award plaque
- A stipend award (please note that the stipend amount will vary based on available funding)
Additionally, awardees have the opportunity to share their insights and experiences through a panel discussion at the AIChE Annual Meeting, contributing to the ongoing dialogue and learning within the community.
Nomination process
The award is open to AIChE members, including professionals from academia, industry, and students. Nominations can be submitted by individuals or teams, with team nominations allowing one representative to attend the conference. The application process involves a detailed project description, a curriculum vitae, a short biography, and letters of recommendation.
