The Future of STEM Scholars Initiative (FOSSI) celebrates its 2024 class of 150 FOSSI scholars! Since its inception, FOSSI has awarded over 740 exceptional high-school seniors $40,000 scholarships ($10,000 per year) to pursue preferred STEM degrees at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

Caleb Cole: 2024 FOSSI Scholar Attending North Carolina A&T State University
Caleb is from Flossmoor, IL, and attended Homewood-Flossmoor High School. He is currently a freshman majoring in chemical engineering at North Carolina A&T University. He is passionate about chemical engineering, as it will give him the knowledge needed to pursue a career in STEM and allow him to achieve his goal of developing sustainable technology and processes.
Gabrielle Dennis: 2024 FOSSI Scholar Attending Tuskegee University
Gabrielle Dennis is from Mobile, AL, and graduated from John L. LeFlore Magnet High School. She is currently a freshman majoring in chemical engineering at Tuskegee University. During high school, she was named class valedictorian, and served as captain of the LeFlore High girl’s volleyball and tennis team. She is passionate about pursuing a STEM degree to show that she can thrive in engineering as a black woman in a male-dominated field.
Kyndall Jackson: 2024 FOSSI Scholar Attending North Carolina A&T State University
Kyndall is from Richmond, VA, and attended Hermitage High School. She is currently a freshman and bioengineering major at North Carolina A&T State. Her fascination with the human body was ignited by watching the television show Grey’s Anatomy. She is passionate about the transformative potential of biomedical engineering and ultimately aims to address healthcare disparities and ensure that medical advancements are accessible to all, regardless of socioeconomic background.
Justin Lewis: 2024 FOSSI Scholar Attending Prairie View A&M University
Justin is from Katy, TX, and attended Houston Christian High School. He is a current freshman and chemical engineering major at Prairie View A&M University. In high school, he was involved in various leadership organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America and Top Teens of America. His passion for engineering has been a driving force since a young age, and he is eager to embark on his journey towards a career in STEM to make a significant impact on society.
