The Future of STEM Scholars Initiative (FOSSI) celebrates its 2024 class of 150 FOSSI scholars! Since its inception, FOSSI has awarded over 740 exceptional high-school seniors $40,000 scholarships ($10,000 per year) to pursue preferred STEM degrees at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

Micah Atkins: 2024 FOSSI Scholar Attending Tuskegee University
Micah is from Houston, TX, and attended Pearland High School. She is currently a freshman majoring in chemical engineering at Tuskegee University. She is grateful for the FOSSI scholarship as it gives her the ability to solely focus on her education without worrying about how to cover the cost of her tuition. Driven by her passion for creating positive change, Micah is excited to pursue a career in chemical engineering to contribute to the betterment of society.
Dillon Lewis: 2024 FOSSI Scholar Attending Florida A&M University
Dillon Lewis is from Martinsburg, WV, and attended Martinsburg High School. He is currently a freshman at Florida A&M University, majoring in mechanical engineering. In high school, he served as the interim chapter president of the DMV National Society of Black Engineers Junior (NSBE Jr.), where he built programs, coded, and designed on a robotics team. He was also a member of the National Technical Honor Society and co-founded his school’s first Black Student Union. Dillon has always loved science and STEM, and is excited to pursue his passion and ultimately obtain his PhD in engineering.
Kristopher Moore: 2024 FOSSI Scholar Attending Prairie View A&M University
Kristopher is from Cypress, TX, and attended the Harmony School of Discovery. He is currently a freshman at Prairie View A&M University and majoring in mechanical engineering. He has experience in robotics, investments, and the digital arts. Kristopher’s future goals include using his degree to answer global energy problems and improve our everyday lives with the power of engineering.
Jewelia Taylor: 2024 FOSSI Scholar Attending Spelman College
Jewelia is from West Orange, NJ, and attended West Orange High School. She is currently attending Spelman college as a cosmetic chemistry major. In high school, Jewelia served as Student Council Vice President, was an honor roll student, and a member of the National Honors Society. In the future, she aspires to lead an innovative cosmetics company that creates products that serve as a catalyst for building confidence, self-expression, and empowerment for people of all colors and cultures.
