“And in that moment, I swear we were Infinite”

The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012)

The intention behind writing this seemed a bit unclear at first, almost as if there was no common thread to tie it all together. Yet, there was a will to string it all into one beady notion, which can now be named, Living like Gen Z.

Being a part of Gen Z means navigating a hyper-connected society where emotions are intensely felt. Whether it's the excitement of sharing good moments online or facing tough times made even tougher by staring at screens, emotions take on an extra intensity. In this digital age, social media, short messaging, and a constant flow of information shape how we connect and express our emotions. It's like our feelings are captured on a screen, and we, as Gen Z, aren't just observers; we're actively part of it all, searching for empathy and connection in the cacophony of our hyper-connected world.

Meaningful, heartfelt conversations almost feel like rare art forms these days, right? While we often communicate through screens, we still crave genuine connections. Sure, emojis and shortcuts are handy, but we want conversations with real depth. We're learning to slow down and truly listen in the rush of constant notifications. Whether it's heartfelt messages, video calls, or face-to-face chats, we appreciate the power of words to create connections that go beyond the surface. Meaningful conversations are indeed a big deal for us and a key part of what defines Gen Z.

And then, there's the value we place on friendships. It's way more than just having a bunch of names on a list. In a world where social media can make things a bit blurry, we're all about real connections that actually mean something. Growing up, we understand the importance of having a few friends who truly get us and share genuine moments rather than a ton of superficial buddies. It's not about collecting friends like trophies; it's about having people we can laugh with, share secrets with, and count on. Our friendships aren't confined to the online realm; they're in real life too. We're into quality over quantity, cherishing the kind of friendships that last and make life richer. In a world full of digital pals, we prioritize those real connections that truly matter.

Sometimes, it might look like everyone's in their own worlds, glued to screens and doing their thing. But here's the thing – not all hope is gone! We're all about real connections, not just the online stuff. Beyond the busy vibes, we want meaningful friendships, genuine talks, and a feeling of togetherness. Amid our individual journeys, we recognize the importance of inculcating good traditional and family values. Understanding how having genuine love and affection for the people we care about, and valuing these connections over selfishness, becomes crucial. By embracing these timeless values, we find an anchor that grounds us amidst the swirl of modernity, creating a foundation for authentic relationships that stand the test of time.

So maybe we could continue seeking life beyond the reel world and be more human with more genuine love, compassion and kindness towards each other?
