The Northern California local section of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE NorCal) has a geographic region includes all of Northern California and portions of Nevada. Our goals as an organization are to:
- Advance chemical engineering and related sciences
- Promote excellence in chemical engineering education
- Stimulate collaborative efforts among industry, academia, government, and professional societies
- Uphold and advance professional ethics
- Enhance lifelong career development
Every year AIChE NorCal Chapter hosts a one-day symposium to encourage a discussion on topics affecting the discipline of chemical engineering. The symposium and other local chapter meetings features a variety of to encourage collaboration and innovation between industry, academia, and government agencies. Our local section also provides professional awards and student scholarships to undergraduate and high school students.
The Bay Area is a hotbed of chemical engineering activity with our members representing a wide variety of industries from pharmaceuticals to fossil energy. The Bay Area also supports national laboratories such as Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and Sandia National Laboratories. We maintain relationship with Universities in the area including:
