Celebrate Engineers Week February 16-23, 2020.  Several events are planned by umbrella engineering organizations which the Tidewater Virginia local section is a member.

Sunday 2/16/19: Celebrate Engineering Ingenuity, sponsored by the Richmond Joint Engineers Council (RJEC) at the Science Museum of Virginia (SMV); 2500 West Broad Street, Richmond VA; 11:30 am-3 pm in the Dewey Gottwald Center, located behind the main building.  Enter from DMV Drive and park at the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center parking lot.  FREE ADMISSION!  Activities include: ASME Egg Drop Contest, ASCE Popsicle Stick Bridge Building Competition, and ASM International CO2 Drag Racing.  Visit http://rjec.org/page10.html.  See file RJEC Engineering Ingenuity at SMV.

Thursday 2/20/20: RJEC Engineers Week Banquet at the Jefferson Hotel, 101 West Franklin Street, Richmond VA. Social hour 5 PM. Main event 6 PM.  The keynote speaker is Charles Southall, vice president of Engineering and Design for Newport News Shipbuilding.  Mr. Southall is responsible for all ship design, construction engineering, fleet engineering services, and test engineering at NNS. Awards to be presented include: Engineer of the Year, Lifetime Achievement, Dr. Rodney. E. Thursday and Friday  2/20-21/20: Peninsula Engineers Council (PEC) Career Days at the Huntington Ingalls Newport News Shipyard Apprentice School Gymnasium, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Southside schools 2/20, Peninsula schools 2/21.

Sunday 2/24/19: PEC Engineers Week Banquet, Hampton Roads Convention Center Suite AB, across the Covered Walkway from the Embassy Suites Hotel, 1700 Coliseum Dr, Hampton, VA 23666; 2:00 PM Social Hour, 3:00 PM Dinner, 4:00 PM Program.  The keynote speaker is Mr. Doug Wilson, CEO, Elizabeth River Crossing (ERC).  Mr. Wilson oversees all Company operations and relationships as well as long term strategic planning for ERC.  Awards to be presented include the Engineer of the Year and the Doug Ensor Award (Young Engineer, < 35 years old).  See file 2020 PEC banquet flyer.
