This research is searching for a low cost material to treat the wastewaters from the textile industries. The principal pollutants present in these waters are the dyes. Currently the most common proceedings to treat the wastewaters are very expensive. A solution is, use the agricultural wastes to treat them and give an adequate disposition. Here in the Andina’s region one of the most popular economic activities is the production and trade of flowers, due to this activity lots of residues have been generated.

The adsorbents were characterized with equilibrium isotherms and kinetic adsorptions using sunflowers stalks without the skin. The stalks were kept inside of a room with constant conditions; temperature (20ºC) and relative humidity (RH) of 72% by 168 hours. It were analyze two different dyes (Congo red and methylene blue) The different times of the  adsorptions were 30 minutes with constant temperature (20°C) .The solution concentration was measure by UV/VIS spectrophotometer. The superficial surface was calculated by Langmuir isotherms and probe using nitrogen adsorption. A pilot plan was tested for scaling purposes.

The dyes recovery has been evaluated with several solvents and it is being analyzed the reuse as a dye in other process.
