Abstract
This is a brief review of the relation of Howard Brennerâ??s seminal and volu- minous work on bivelocity fluid mechanics to the general field of non-locality in strongly inhomogenous media. The main ideas are elaborated upon in a previous work [1], which acknowledges Brennerâ??s important contribution and shows how his theory may be viewed as part of a more general description of stress and heat flux in a weakly non-local fluid model.
