There have been many changes made to the Safety and Chemical Engineering Education Committee (SAChE) website (http://sache.org/index.asp) that were designed to assist faculty with using the available resources on the site to enhance undergraduate safety education. SAChE Products have now been organized by course topic so, for example, someone teaching a mass transfer course can go to the site and easily find safety-related instructional resources related to their course. Course topics listed include material/energy balances, fluid flow, heat transfer, mass transfer, thermodynamics, chemical reactions/kinetics, process control, lab, and design. The SAChE Student Safety Certificate Program has been undergoing revisions by the SAChE Safety Certificate Editorial Board. The purposes of the revisions include breaking the material in a certificate into roughly one-hour segments that give students a more manageable time frame for completion. Quiz questions follow each section. A final exam is required for students to complete the Certificate with some questions as review and some questions new for the final. A minimum passing score is 90% on the final. The SAChE Faculty Workshops continue to be a major initiative of the SAChE Committee. The Workshops continue to be a valuable way for faculty to experience the critical importance of safety considerations in an operating environment. The last Faculty Workshop was held at Chevron Energy Technology Co. (Richmond, CA), and the materials from past workshops are available on the SAChE site.
