Thomas Spicer
Dr. Tom Spicer is Professor in the Ralph E. Martin Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Arkansas. He teaches courses on chemical process safety and process control. He is a member of the AIChE Safety and Chemical Engineering Education (SACHE) Committee and the AIChE Education and Accreditation Committee. Tom is also working with the CCPS emphasis on chemical process safety education. Tom’s primary research interests are in the assessment of hazards from airborne contaminants, particularly those that are denser than air as well as from fire and explosion phenomena. Tom collaborates in research efforts at the Chemical Hazards Research Center (CHRC) at the University of Arkansas. The CHRC conducts major research programs to develop and verify mathematical and wind tunnel models of the atmospheric dispersion of hazardous chemicals. The CHRC operates the largest ultra-low-speed environmental wind tunnel in the world.
