(348c) Entrepreneurially Minded Learning in the Chemical Engineering Unit Operations Laboratory

Authors

Vasquez, E. S. - Presenter, University of Dayton
Over the past few years, chemical engineering students in the unit operations laboratory have been encouraged to adopt an entrepreneurial mindset (EM) to solve non-traditional unit operations experiments. Specifically, the KEEN framework of the 3 C's, curiosity, connections, and creating value, has been implemented to work on final open-ended projects with sponsors outside the University. It has been demonstrated that students' self-directed learning correlates with EM when working in the laboratory. This talk briefly discusses final project assignments, deliverables, assessment methods, stakeholders, benefits, opportunities, and limitations.
