The US Department of Homeland Security's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) functions as the Sector Risk Management Agency (SRMA) for the chemical sector. The Chemical sector is one of the 16 critical infrastructure sectors(1) whose assets, systems, and networks, whether physical or virtual, are considered so vital to the United States that their incapacitation or destruction would have a debilitating effect on security, national economic security, national public health or safety, or any combination thereof. In order to have a resilient and sustainable supply chain, it is imperative for the critical infrastructure sectors to function at their full capability. Across CISA, teams work to support functions of the Chemical SRMA to ensure safe, secure, resilient, and sustainable functioning of the chemical supply chain. The impacts of the chemical supply chain span far beyond the chemical sector and influences the supply chain or function of all critical infrastructure sectors. The team will present an overview of the Chemical SRMA and its role in capacity building, training, publications, supply chain, voluntary programs, and no-cost resources available to the chemical sector and within the four industry segments (basic chemicals, specialty chemicals, agricultural chemicals, and consumer products). The Chemical SRMA focuses on coordination and collaboration across the sector and with cross-sector critical infrastructure partners, both at the headquarters level and at the individual site level through the CISA regional offices. Among the resources related to supply chain discussed will be an overview of the 2022 Effective All-Hazards Chemical Sector Response Playbook(2) and webinar series which provides a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to assist the Chemical Sector in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from an all-hazards emergency; as well as information pertinent to the supply chain of water treatment chemicals. The team will also discuss how to contact your regional office for interaction and resources, an overview of the Homeland Security Information Network – Critical Infrastructure (HSIN-CI) Chemical Portal information, attendance at classified and unclassified briefings, and how to receive pertinent Chemical SRMA updates will be covered.
