Akshay Gopan
Akshay Gopan is a PhD Candidate in the Energy, Environmental and Chemical Engineering Department at Washington University in St Louis, with a focus on oxy-fuel combustion and new process development. He has experimental experience as well as competence in process modeling and optimization. He is currently working on a novel staged, high pressure oxy-combustion process with minimal flue gas recycle in order to minimize cost of carbon capture and utilization of coal for power generation in a cleaner way. His other research areas include preparation and utilization of low rank coal water slurries and co-firing of biomass with coal in order to minimize carbon emissions. Akshay Majored in Chemical Engineering with Minor in Environmental Science & Engineering during his undergraduate studies.
