Alan Aguirre-Soto has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering with minor in Industrial Engineering and Polymers from Tecnologico de Monterrey, and a B.S. in Chemistry from Reutlingen University with a thesis on Chemometrics on emulsion polymerization reactor under the supervision of Prof. Waltraud Kessler. Alan established the 1st AIChE Chapter in Mexico, 2nd non-US-based chapter, and was featured as a Chenected Young professional. He obtained M.Sc. and PhD degrees in Chemical Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder focusing on organo-photoredox catalysis for polymer synthesis with phenothiazine dyes in the Stansbury group. Alan did his posdoctoral research in the Sikes Lab at MIT using photochemistry, photocatalysis, and polymer chemistry for signal amplification of biomolecular recognition. In 2017, Alan became a research professor at Tecnologico de Monterrey and Visiting Research Scholar at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine, Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School working on visible-light-induced collagen crosslinking in Irene Kochevar’s group.
