Alejandro Castellanos
Castellanos, A.
Universidad de Los Andes
Colombia
Alejandro Castellanos-Vargas holds bachelor’s degrees in chemical engineering and mechanical engineering from Universidad de Los Andes (Colombia). He is a last year student of Master of Science in Chemical Engineering at the same university. He belongs to the Process Safety research group of the department of Chemical Engineering, which is led by Dr. Felipe Muñoz-Giraldo.Mr. Castellanos has worked in the thermal characterization and mechanical behavior of polymers in fire scenarios. Also, he has worked in the study of corrosion growth in oil pipelines in a transient state using finite element analysis. Currently, Mr. Castellanos is studying domino effect scenarios triggered by projection of fragments generate after the inner explosion of tanks using hydrocode software for simulating the dynamic behavior and the failure of those vessels. The results obtained in the study of this kind of scenarios may be used in decision-making processes and industrial risk assessment methods.
