My Ph.D. reseach focused on phage display of peptide libraries for identifying solid-binding peptides for lithium ion batteries. Multifunctional peptides were identified, recombinantly expressed in bacteria and characterized for affinity to various cathode materials and MWCNTs. Ultimately, bifunctional peptides were utilized as specific binding agents for aqueous assembly of a lithium ion battery cathode. My current work for Army Research Laboratory focuses on OBOC peptide libraries for discovery of bio-recognition elements to be employed in sensors. Current work focuses on organisms such as SARS-CoV-2 and E. coli O157:H7 (shown in this work). Lead peptides are subsequently affinity matured into bi-ligands to exhibit enhanced target affinity and specificity.
