Alice received her B.A. (Mod) in Nanoscience, Physics and Chemistry of Advanced Materials from Trinity College Dublin (University of Dublin, Ireland) in 2015. After a brief period of working in investment banking she started her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in 2016 at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL, Switzerland) under the supervision of Ardemis A. Boghossian. Her PhD research focused on engineering optical sensors using single-walled carbon nanotubes for biomedical sensing applications, with a specific focus towards engineering improved sensors for neurochemical detection. In October 2020, Alice started a postdoctoral research position at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL, California, USA) in the group of Aleksandr Noy working in the area of nanofluidics.
