Chiya Savari

Dr. Chiya Savari is Research Fellow at School of Chemical Engineering, University of Birmingham who studies reacting and non-reacting complex multiphase flow systems including fluidized/spouted beds and solid-liquid suspensions. The majority of his research at Birmingham focuses on study the flow of two-phase particle-liquid suspensions experimentally and theoretically. This requires the development of experimental flow rigs and techniques, and the use of various instruments and methods to study particle-liquid flow behaviour and rheology in flow systems of varying geometries and scales. In particular, the research will make extensive use of the unique Lagrangian Positron Emission Particle Tracking (PEPT) technique pioneered at the University of Birmingham for 3D imaging of complex particle-liquid flows. The work will also involve the development of data analysis techniques and analytical or data-driven Lagrangian models to describe such complex flows.
