Dan is a bioenergy researcher who targets sustainable chemicals and aviation fuels produced from biomass and waste. His areas of expertise include converting those materials at 800-1,000°C via gasification, followed by catalytic upgrading to jet-range fuel products. Dan has been at NREL since 2014 where he interned for two years and was hired on after graduating from the Colorado School of Mines with a B.S. in Engineering Physics in 2016. He works on NREL's 4-inch gasification bench-scale reactor system and multiple reactor systems in the Fuel Synthesis and Catalysis Laboratory. He also serves as a Designated Area Representative for those areas.
