Darlene Z. Galloza-Lorenzo
Darlene Z. Galloza Lorenzo was born in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico and was raise in Aguada, Puerto Rico, where she study at the Dr. Carlos González public school. Later on she studied her bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, graduating with honors in 2008, as a Magna Cum Laude student. This motivate her to continue her graduate studies at the same university, where she is actually a PhD Candidate in Chemical Engineering with a specialization in Catalysis, under the mentoring of Dr. Nelson Cardona Martínez. Her research is focusing in the synthesis and characterization of metal oxide catalysts for the hydrolytic hydrogenation of cellulose to sugar alcohols, which are relevant to obtain alternative fuels and green energy sources to meet the energy demand and decrease the greenhouse gas emissions.
