Helena Hagelin Weaver is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Florida. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry and an M.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm (Sweden). She came to the University of Florida as a post doc in 1999. Before joining the tenure-track faculty in 2011, she held a Research Assistant Professor position in the department. Her research focuses on atomically precise design of heterogeneous catalysts and utilizes well-defined nanoparticle oxides and different methods, such as atomic layer deposition (ALD), to control the deposition of active metal onto the support oxide. She uses a variety of analytical techniques to elucidate important catalytic properties and understand catalysts at the atomic level. Her interests range from designing catalysts for renewable fuels production to enhancing NMR signals for biomedical applications
