Jack Ledingham

I’m currently a third-year PhD student at the University of Sheffield under the supervision of Kyra Sedransk Campbell and Alasdair Campbell. My research concerns electrodialysis (ED), a low-energy electro-membrane desalination technology that uses electricity to drive salt transport through ion exchange membranes. In particular, I am researching the engineering challenges behind ED so as to improve performance to a point where it is more commercially viable. To do this I use various forms of modelling (Ansys, COMSOL, and MATLAB), as well as conducting experiments for validation and further exploration. My PhD is supported by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), and Shell Global Solutions International B.V
