Jack Mc Cavit

Jack McCavit Mr. McCavit is President of JL McCavit Consulting, LLC, a consulting company specializing in improving process safety management systems and reducing process safety incidents. Mr. McCavit worked for Celanese Chemical Company for 35 years before retiring in 2005. At Celanese, he had extensive experience in operations management and practical application of process safety management systems. Following the BP Texas City explosion in 2005, Mr. McCavit served as the BP Baker Panel’s technical project manager. He currently is a part of the Independent Expert Team monitoring BP's performance. He is a CCPS Staff Consultant and served as chair of the CCPS committee that developed Guidelines for Risk Based Process Safety. Mr. McCavit is an AIChE and CCPS Fellow and received the MKOPSC Merit Award. Mr. McCavit graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in chemical engineering. He has been recognized by Texas Tech University as a Distinguished Engineer.
