James Thompson

Mr. James Thompson is a senior process safety consultant for ABS Consulting and has over 37 years of industrial experience. At ABS Consulting he assists clients in all aspects of PSM/RMP auditing, development, PSM management system implementation, conducting PHAs, and assessing companies’ safety cultures. He previously served in various roles including PSM coordinator at the DuPont/INVISTA Victoria, Texas, plant. He was prominent in PSM activities at the corporate level for DuPont. He is active in the AIChE Process Plant Safety Symposium (and chaired the 2006 PPSS), the Texas Chemical Council EHS Seminar, and the Mary Kay O’Conner Process Safety Center. He was recognized as the Texas Chemical Council Safety Professional of the Year for 2001, and has published a number of papers and presentations related to best practices in PSM. Mr. Thompson holds a B.S. Ch. E. degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
