Dr. John Carson is President Emeritus of Jenike & Johanson, Inc. He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University and a Ph.D. from MIT. In 1970 joined Jenike & Johanson where he has been active in research, consulting, and management of the company. He is an author of more than 150 articles on various topics dealing with solids flow, including bin and feeder design, flow of fine powders, design of purge vessels, and structural failures of silos. Besides being a founding member of AIChE's Powder Technology Forum, Dr. Carson belongs to ASME, ASCE, and ASTM International, where he is a founding member and past chair of committee D18.24, “Characterization and Handling of Powders and Bulk Solids.” Dr. Carson received the UK Institution of Mechanical Engineers' Solids Handling Award and the 2015 Particle Technology Forum's Lifetime Achievement Award.
