Ken Wohlgeschaffen has been with Chevron for 17 years based at the Richmond Refinery in various roles in the Technical and Operations Departments. He is currently the Team Leader for the Hydrogen Plants Business Improvement Network, a position which he has held for the past 8 years. Ken’s primary focus is supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the hydrogen plants located within Chevron’s North American and overseas refineries, including operated and non-operated joint venture refineries. Additionally, Ken is involved in mentoring senior engineers, and developing hydrogen plant capital projects. He is also responsible for leading a team of Business Improvement Network (“BIN”) leaders in the Downstream Manufacturing organization. Ken’s previous positions were Senior Process Engineer, Operations Assistant, Hydroprocessing Process Lead, and Process Engineering Team Leader. Prior to joining Chevron, Ken spent 8 years with FMC (now PeroxyChem), a major hydrogen peroxide producer. He was Technical Manager first at their Prince George, British Columbia, Canada site, and later at their Bayport, Texas site. Ken spent 7 years with Exxon Chemical Canada (now Nutrien) at their Redwater, Alberta, fertilizer complex. There he was a process engineer in the Agricultural Chemicals Technology Department, and a plant engineer supporting the nitric acid/ammonium nitrate plants, and the urea plant. Ken received his bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Calgary in 1989.
