Kendra Rumbaugh received her PhD in Medical Microbiology from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) and performed postdoctoral training at the University of California at San Francisco, both in the area of bacterial pathogenesis. She is now a tenured Professor in the Department of Surgery at TTUHSC, in Lubbock, Texas and has joint appointments in the Depts. of Cell Biology and Biochemistry and Immunology and Molecular Microbiology. She is also Director of the Burn Center of Research Excellence at TTUHSC. Dr. Rumbaugh’s research focuses on understanding and treating wound infections, and she is especially interested in how biofilms, polymicrobial interactions and cell-to-cell signaling contribute to infection.
