Mariefel Olarte

Dr.Olarte joined Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in 2011 and her main focus has been on the catalytic conversion of biomass to renewable fuels as well as in developing analytical methods to characterize bio-oils and its products. She has experience in operating bench-scale (400 and 800 mL) continuous flow reactors for bio-oil hydrotreating as well as intimately involved in reactor scaling up efforts at PNNL. Since joining PNNL she has also worked on fast pyrolysis, hydrothermal liquefaction, catalytic deconstruction of biomass and catalytic hydrothermal gasification. She has a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of the Philippines Los Banos, a MS in Paper Science and Engineering and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.
