Paul A. Charpentier
Paul A. Charpentier, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Chemical & Biochemical Engineering at Western University, London, Ontario Canada. His PhD is from McMaster University in Canada and he was a Kenan Centre postdoctoral fellow from 1997-2000 at UNC-Chapel Hill and NCSU in North Carolina. His expertise and research interests are in molecular engineering developing advanced materials and biomaterials using a clean technology approach. In recent work at Western, a start-up company (Sunwash Technologies) has been launched by Western based on self-cleaning antimicrobial coatings. Recent research awards include Ontario Green Chemistry and Engineering Award (2012), Western Innovation Award (2011), Western Faculty Scholar Award (2010), and Petro Canada’s Young Innovator Award (2007) Ontario Premiers Research Excellence Award (2002). Charpentier has published over 200 refereed publications, conference proceedings and oral presentations and has 7 US patents. He has graduated over 50 MESc, PhD and PDF trainees.
