Ron Besuijen

Ron has been in the Ethylene business for 27 years, all with NOVA Chemicals. 17 years of this have been Operating including commissioning and startup or a new Ethylene facility. He holds a 3rd Class Power Engineering certification and a Chemical Process Operations Certification. After qualifying on four different Panels (two with the aid of a Simulator) Ron decided to switch to the Simulator training role and has been performing this for 10 years. During this time he has assisted in the development of two Simulator models and one Simulator training facility. He also helped develop NOVA’s learning management system and the Operations qualification process. Reducing flaring during plant shutdowns and startups is one of the challenges that he has been pursuing.
